    Reading Resolutions, 2012 Edition

    Happy New Year!

My favorite resolutions are the ones that involve reading, and lots of it! In fact, I don't really make any resolutions that have to do with anything else. My physical and emotional well being depends upon a steady reading diet, so once I work some books into the mix I pretty much have everything covered.

So, here are my Reading Resolutions for 2012:
    1. Read at least 75 books this year. (The books that I read for work don't count.)75 will only make a mere dent in my ever-growing TBR list, but it's something.

    2. Read at least one mystery book. (Time to stop avoiding them.)I really don't know when my aversion to mystery books began, but it's time to get over it.
      Any recommendations?

    3. Read some classics I haven't read but should: Jude the Obscure

    4. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

    5. The Moonstone

    6. Read more nonfiction.I am so partial to fiction that I fear I've been missing out on some great nonfiction books.

    7. Read more books by independent authors.
There are so many great independent authors out there.
    8. Finally build our home library. I've been collecting inspiration photos for ages, so now is the time!

    9. Fall in love with a new series. It's been too long since my love affair with Harry Potter and Sookie Stackhouse.
I need a new series to love!

    10. Buy from independent bookstores. I spend a bit too much time at the local chains,
and not enough time at the great indy bookstores we have in the area.

So, what are your reading resolutions for 2012?

Wow! 75 books in a year sounds similar to NaNoWriMo craziness. I may have only read two books in less than a week. I'm a slow reader.

Good luck, I'm sure it will be fun! Oh, and I haven't read many mysteries, but why not begin with Agatha Christie? I think I have one of her classics teed up on my Kindle, but still haven't read it either.

Agatha Christie is a great idea, thanks! I'll start there.

75 books in a year is nothing like the NaNo craziness, trust me! I will never read all of the books I want to read, so at least it's a start.

My secret weapon for reaching that reading goal is my summer vacation--you can read a lot of books when you don't have to go to work every day.
